Most Torontonians will admit that right now, we have no good major league sports teams. This goes for Football, Baseball**, Basketball, and especially, ICE HOCKEY!
The Toronto Maple Leafs last won the Stanley Cup in 1967. The Maple Leafs belong to Canada's largest city, Toronto. The team was one of the glorious "Original 6" NHL teams. So, at the time of writing, Toronto has not won anything for 45 years. The main passtime for fans is not cheering, it's jeering.
And yet, for all that time, their games have enjoyed pretty much 100% attendance. How can this be?
** Okay, okay, the Jays have potential this year, but don't hold your breath!
Boycott The Toronto Maple Leafs!
Why are we supporting a team that gives us NOTHING?

Assessment
Maple Leaf tickets are very expensive. Most hard-working people cannot afford them. Worse, they can't get hold of tickets anyway. As for getting season tickets, that's just a dream for most.
Now, if you are regularly attending games - WHY? You are pouring away your time and money on a team that never wins. Are you satisfed with this? I didn't think so.
You can read elsewhere all the theories as to why the Maple Leafs are garbage. 45 years of really smelly garbage. Here, you can read our basic theory ...
IT'S CORRUPTION at the highest levels, pure and simple. The games are provided by the rich, for the rich. For the business types, the tourists, the celebrities, for those "on the inside", and for those with "connections".
Maple Leafs games are certainly not provided for the everyday fan - otherwise, the team would respond to the obvious: How about putting together a good team once in a while? It simply never happens.

What Can Be Done?
Simple. BOYCOTT THE LEAFS! Don't go to the games, and do not watch them on TV. Not watching the Leafs on TV is important - there's big money tied up in that, and if you do watch, you keep their wheels greased. If you must have your ice hockey, how about following a different team until things change?
Obviously, this will only work if enough people follow through. We need the Air Canada Centre to be half-empty (or less) for all games. The only way to beat the forces that be, is by hitting them where it hurts them the most - in their fat wallets!
If you agree with all this, then start spreading the word. Give people this web site address. Or other similar web sites. Tell your friends and family to join in. Call your politicians. Call the media. Call the Maple Leafs, dammit! GET MAD and SPEAK UP!

The Leafs' Apology
RIGHT HERE, the CBC's fabulously different Rex Murphy tells it like it is. Rex is one of the few remaining bastions of real language.
